We just finished a pretty major reno that wrecked our backyard — think mud pits, tire tracks, and a completely stripped top layer. I'm trying to figure out how to bring some life back into it. Where should I even begin if I want to fix the soil and maybe plant grass again? Anything specific I should look for when sourcing materials?

Totally get that. Post-construction yards can be brutal. First thing is to rebuild the soil structure, especially if the top layer was scraped off or compacted. You’ll want to find quality topsoil with good drainage and nutrient balance. Don’t cheap out on this — poor soil means poor growth later. If you're in Vancouver Island, I’d recommend checking out this Topsoil Supplier in Port Alberni, BC. They’ve got a range of fill and topsoil options, and it makes a real difference when you know what you're putting down is clean and local. Once you’ve got the base right, seeding and regular watering will get you back to green sooner than you think.
